Mock Interviews
At CMS's annual conference in San Antonio, there will be opportunities
for students, faculty members, and other interested members registered for the conference to
participate in mock interview/portfolio review sessions with senior
colleagues. Each session will last forty minutes and will be conducted
by two colleagues, at least one of whom will be from the interviewee's
subdiscipline of music. This will be an opportunity to hone
interviewing skills and to receive feedback from experienced colleagues
about interviewing and preparation of job application materials.
Mock interviews will be held Friday and Saturday, September 15 and 16, 2006, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Requesting a Mock Interview
In order to participate as an interviewee, please click here to fill out and submit an online form by August 31, 2006. Although an application cannot guarantee an interview, we hope to fill all requests and will schedule the requests in the order in which they are received. If you are then chosen for an interview, please plan to submit materials prior to September 7.
Volunteering to Serve as an Interviewer
In order to provide opportunities for students and other colleagues
interested in receiving feedback about their application materials, we
need to enlist the help of volunteers from among the attending
membership to serve as interviewers. We hope to pair up
colleagues from different subdisciplines and institutions--a good way to
meet new people in the organization. Your service will be valuable to
