Salt Lake City

50th National Conference · November 15-18, 2007
Little America Hotel · Salt Lake City, Utah

This year The College Music Society will hold its fiftieth national conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, November 15-18, 2007. The conference will be held in conjunction with the 2007 National Conference of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction and immediately preceding the 2007 Annual Meeting of the National Association of Schools of Music which meets November 18-20. The ATMI, CMS, and NASM conferences will be held in the Little America and Grand America Hotels in downtown Salt Lake City.

The 2007 Program Committee, chaired by James Parakilas (Bates College), has selected a broad range of topics of wide appeal to all facets of music in higher education. Highlights of the program include the following:

  • Special sessions to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Society and its contributions to music in higher education.

  • CMS and NASM special joint sessions on Music in General Studies and the future of graduate education in music on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, November 17-18.

  • A banquet on Friday evening, November 16, to celebrate CMS’s 50th anniversary.

  • A special concert in the Mormon Tabernacle on Saturday evening, November 17, presented by Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.
