Welcome to the CMS Mid-Atlantic Chapter!
Linda Apple Monson, Mid-Atlantic Chapter President
Welcome to The College Music Society's Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Established in 1970, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter is the oldest in CMS. Over 850 members are included in the chapter, whose boundaries encompass Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the District of Columbia.
The annual conference for our chapter includes paper presentations, lecture-recitals, CMS composers' concerts, student papers and compositions, a keynote speaker, and an annual business meeting. Attending the conference in the Mid-Atlantic region is easily reached and affordable, and allows an opportunity to visit and learn with colleagues from all over the region.
You will be notified when we issue a Call for Participation in the fall of each year, athough one need not present a paper at the conference to attend. If you do choose to submit a proposal, all topics related to college music teaching are welcome. Complete conference details are posted on the web site as soon as they are available.
I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities available for you to serve as an officer, a committee member, a representative of a particular population (students, retired members), a newsletter editor, or in any other capacity that might interest you. Please contact me if any of these roles interests you.
Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Chapter and please don't hesitate to contact me with any chapter concerns.
Sincerely,
Linda Apple Monson
President, CMS-MA
