Placing an Advertisement in the Music Vacancy List
You do not need to log in as a member of CMS to place an ad in the Music Vacancy List. Follow instructions below. The Music Vacancy List includes employment opportunities within music and higher education, as well as opportunities in allied professions. Institutions and organizations that wish to reach the single most highly trained and educated pool of potential music employees will find the MVL to be a valuable means of posting employment opportunities and identifying potential candidates.
The current circulation is over 9,000 musicians.
Listings are be processed in the Executive Office and disseminated to subscribers as soon as possible. Please be mindful of the following deadlines and distribution methods when placing a listing. The Music Vacancy List is distributed to subscribers via e-mail. In addition, your listing will be available to the Society's members via an on-line searchable database.
The Weekly Electronic MVL - The deadline is always Thursday at 12:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Sent each Friday afternoon, the weekly electronic version of the MVL brings all employment opportunities received in the Executive Office to subscribers as quickly as possible.
On-Line, Searchable MVL - The MVL is available on-line via a searchable database. The on-line format provides CMS members with the opportunity to obtain information as it is received in the Executive Office.
In summary, the week a listing is placed, it will appear in the weekly electronic version. The listing will also be included in the database searchable by members of CMS.
To place a listing, choose one of the following methods:
- Submit your employment opportunity online on the CMS secure server.
- Send the information to CMS by mail: The College Music Society, ATTN: Music Vacancy List, 312 East Pine Street, Missoula, MT 59802 USA
- E-mail the information to cms@music.org
CMS does not accept advertisements over the telephone. Send information in its current format or send the current announcement; CMS will place the information in appropriate database format.
The cost for placing an advertisement is $225.00 per ad per listing. Additional weeks in the email version are available for $95.00 per ad per week. CMS requires prepayment such as a purchase order, check requisition number, prepaid check, or MasterCard or Visa, American Express or Discover. CMS will send a copy of the listing to you after it has been distributed.
