The following Professional Development event has been endorsed by CMS:
This summer, The Art Song Preservation Society of New York (ASPS), a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to promoting the art song repertoire, will present an inaugural summer program of master classes and recitals reflecting various areas of the art song vocal literature. The “Summer of Song” series will feature master classes with some of the top professionals in classical voice including: Dr. Carol Kimball (author of the new book, Art Song: Linking Poetry & Music), Thomas Muraco (internationally-acclaimed piano collaborator), Thomas Grubb (author of the book, Singing in French: A Manuel of French Diction & French Vocal Repertoire), and Margaret Lattimore (Grammy-nominated Metropolitan Opera singer). Also included, is a free concert in tribute to September 11th, 2001, and a song recital featuring the winner of the 2012 Mary Trueman Vocal Competition, Michael Weyandt (baritone) in partnership with accomplished pianist, Thomas Muraco.
All programs take place at Opera America (330 7th Avenue, 7th Fl). Tickets to attend the master classes and recitals are affordably priced at $25 if purchased in advance online or at the door the day of the event for $30.
