The SAVVY Arts Venture Challenge (formerly called The SAVVY Musician in Action) is the world’s leading experiential entrepreneurship workshop designed to help musicians, performing artists, and educators increase income and impact. Our 5th season will be held June 4–9, 2017 in Columbia, SC.

Partial and full tuition scholarships available! (Up to $1250 value.)

Attendees pitch arts-based business ideas, vote on favorites, form teams, develop business/financial/marketing skills, design a venture from the ground up, and compete for awards. Throughout this process, they develop invaluable, transferable success skills applicable to a wide range of arts careers and environments.

SAVVY is not about passively observing lectures, but rather learning thorough doing. Coached by world-class faculty, participants work hard and collaboratively in a safe environment that fosters community, big ideas, and getting things done. As a bonus, enjoy delicious Southern cuisine!

Because so much of the SAVVY experience is interactive and team-oriented, it is essential that we engage vibrant, pro-active participants. We work hard to accept a diverse and dynamic group including music students, faculty, emerging/established artists, educators, and industry employees. Past participants have ranged from ages 18–70, representing almost every U.S. state and five continents.

Some individuals attend SAVVY with hopes of turbocharging their careers. Others come to develop strategies for making their home organizations more innovative. Still others wish to experience our unique brand of arts entrepreneurship pedagogy. All share the desire to positively impact a complex and quickly changing world.

SAVVY integrates finalists from the related SAVVY Chamber Competition, the nation’s first such contest that values (1) artistic excellence and (2) innovative event design. Open to cutting-edge ensembles representing varied instrumentations and genres, this year’s grand prize includes a $10,000 award/residency.

This summer, invest in your success! Apply today.
