Cultural Expressions in Music: Call for Proposals

Created in 2009, Cultural Expressions in Music is a series of referred monographs which seeks to promote and share the diversity of perspectives, cultures, experiences, philosophies, and contributions of The College Music Society’s membership. The series is now entering a new phase. The Editorial Board is soliciting contributions that address music as narrative and musicians as narrators of the migratory movement of people, cultures and civilizations through time and space, focusing on musical genres, styles, repertoire, and practices.

The College Music Society website, an important tool to enhance CMS scholarship, is available for dynamic audio, video, and other multi-media documents to accompany monographs. The length of the book is open and flexible depending on the content of the monograph.

Submission target dates are January 15 and December 15, but proposal submission and inquiries are welcome at any time.
