About CMS Regional Chapters

CHAPTER CONFERENCES

CMS Regional Conferences take place each spring and provide invigorating forums for dialogue, learning, collaborating, and professional networking. The relatively modest size of these gatherings allows for ample time to get to know others who share a passion for music, teaching, and learning. Papers, lecture-recitals, and performances, often including concerts of new music by CMS composers, offer intellectual and artistic stimulation.

Regional Conferences also provide a local forum to discuss the National Common Topic. National Common Topics reflect an issue of relevance to higher education in music and allow the CMS membership to share creative, proactive solutions to pressing challenges. Each fall, during the CMS National Conference, a panel consisting of representatives from each chapter summarizes the discussions that took place at Regional Conferences.

CHAPTER GOVERNANCE AND NEWS

CMS has nine chapters. Visit the chapter homepage for governance and chapter news.

 Chapter Boundaries

Each offers opportunities for involvement. Hosting a conference, serving on a committee, serving as an officer, submitting a proposal, or attending a conference and absorbing all it has to offer are just a few ways to engage with CMS at the regional level.
