Welcome to the homepage for the CMS Central Chapter! The Central Chapter includes members from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Manitoba, Missouri, South Dakota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Saskatchewan, and Wyoming.
As a member of the Central Chapter, you have access to the various forums, the Music Vacancy List, and other services provided by CMS. I invite you to explore the website and take advantage of the many opportunities from community outreach and engagement to professional activities and development.
Our annual Regional Conference is an excellent occasion to present a paper, lecture recital, performance, or composition, discuss current issues, and connect with colleagues in the region and our guests from outside the region. I encourage all faculty and students to submit a proposal for consideration and to attend. The Central Chapter offers three awards for student participation in the conference: the Chappell White Memorial Award for Best Student Composition for a composition; the Paul Revitt Memorial Award for Best Student Paper for a presentation; The James Brewer Memorial Award for Best Student Presentation, to include all formats except student papers and compositions. We plan to post details of the conference, including a Call for Program Participation and Call for Scores, in the fall.
If you would like to participate more actively in the Central Chapter or have ideas of how CMS can better serve its members and the larger musical community, please contact me. I would love to connect and get to know other CMS members! There are opportunities to serve as an officer, a committee member, a representative of a particular population (students, retired members), a newsletter editor, or in any other capacity that might interest you.
