Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Chapter of The College Music Society. Established in 1988, our chapter includes nearly 300 CMS members in Alaska, Northern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, western Montana, and western Idaho.
Our annual Regional Conference includes paper presentations, lecture-recitals, CMS composers' concerts, student papers and compositions, a keynote speaker, and an annual business meeting. Attending a conference in the region is both accessible and affordable, and allows an opportunity to visit and learn with colleagues from all over the region.
You will be notified when we issue a Call for Participation, although one need not present a paper at the conference to attend. If you do choose to submit a proposal, all topics related to college music teaching are welcome. Complete conference details are posted on the website as soon as they are available.
Whether you are a college or university professor, a graduate student, or an independent scholar or performer, you will find a warm welcome in our chapter and abundant opportunities to develop your career, be inspired by colleagues, create effective networks in your field, and to be of service to the academic and music communities. It is my hope that as a CMS member you will take the opportunity to get involved through our chapter conference and to participate in boards and service positions.
