Altitude in Santa Fe

Santa Fe's high altitude (7,200 feet above sea level) can cause issues for some who are not used to the thinner air. Staying hydrated is the key to feeling well! If you feel a headache, dizziness, disorientation at any time, limit your physical activity and increase your intake of fluids. Also, monitor your caffeine and alcohol intake. Remember, 1 alcoholic drink at 7,000 feet is the equivalent of 3 at sea level. Usually any symptoms of altitude sickness will subside after about 48 hours. Those who continue to struggle may find it helpful to visit one of Santa Fe’s many oxygen bars.
