Mission
The mission of the Committee on Higher Education is to (1) provide liaison between music associations and higher education organizations, (2) convey the essential need for a communications plan that demonstrates the success of music programs in higher education, (3) articulate the changing roles of music units, and (4) advocate for maintaining the artistic and educational integrity of music programs.
About Engagement with Higher Education
Bringing the concerns of music faculty into the national conversation of higher education has never been easy and, in these times of economic uncertainty, more difficult than ever. However, it has never been more necessary nor more potentially rewarding. Since this initiative was formed in 2006 the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE), long a national forum for all faculty interest, has folded, travel costs have increased exponentially, and the culture of assessment has accelerated. The Committee on Engagement with Higher Education looks at current directions and possibilities and develops plans that contribute to conversations with the higher education community.
