The CMS Fund

Mission

The College Music Society serves music in higher education by promoting music teaching and learning, musical creativity and expression, research, diversity of perspective, and interdisciplinary cooperation. As an extension of the Society, The CMS Fund enhances American life through support of exemplary and innovative projects of the Society's members that bring to the wider public the accomplishments of the music profession in higher education.

About The CMS Fund

The College Music Society enjoys a rich history of achievement on behalf of music in American cultural life. The CMS Fund provides resources necessary to support innovative approaches to engagement and outreach (1) on campus and off campus and (2) within undergraduate and graduate curricula, enabling the Society to continue to foster effective and original approaches to curriculum, pedagogy, and audience development for the benefit of strengthening the place of music in our culture.

The CMS Fund enhances cultural life through the leadership of those in music in higher education. Engagement and outreach programs are developed through such areas as composition, performance, scholarship and research, education in music, and music technology. These programs support workshops and institutes, new approaches to pedagogical training for future teachers in higher education, and curriculum development.
