CMS Regional Conferences are held each spring in nine locations across North America and rotate to various locations and types of institutions throughout each regional chapter. Through a variety of formats, these programs provide the opportunity to consider the philosophy and practice of music as an integral part of higher education. By virtue of their greater attention to the art of teaching and its disciplinary inclusiveness, CMS conferences differ from those of discipline-specific organizations. CMS Regional Conferences allow participants to share insights and perspectives on teaching, to feature new and unusual musics, to experience regional musics, to discuss American musical life and culture, and to consider future directions for the art of music. Regional Conferences are open for participation and attendance by all CMS members, regardless of chapter affiliation.
