Nancy Barry (Auburn University), Secretary of The College Music Society, has filed the following results for the election of officers for 2018:
President-Elect: Eileen M. Hayes
Eileen M. Hayes is the incoming Dean, College of Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater effective Fall 2017. Hayes’ research into the interactions of race, gender and sexuality in regard to African American music and culture is complemented by her advocacy on behalf of women, faculty of color, and other underrepresented constituencies in departments and schools of music as well as in the professional music societies. Past CMS service includes: Member, Search Committee to identify the new Executive Director (2015‐16); Program Committee, 2005‐2008; Program Committee for the International Conference held in Madrid, 2005; Board representative for Ethnomusicology, 2004‐07; Local Arrangements Committee Cochair, Mid‐Atlantic Chapter, 2016; Chair, Nominations Committee, 2009.
Secretary: Michelle Kiec, Kutztown University
Michelle Kiec is Interim Dean in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Kutztown University where she previously served as Associate Dean. Curricular development and student achievement are her passions. She has transformed music curricula in multiple programs, with a forward‐thinking/progressive view on the development of music pedagogy and the incorporation of essential workforce skills into the curriculum. Her research on student success, recruitment, enrollment management, distance learning, and assessment has been presented at conferences, including College Music Society, Association for Institutional Research, Northeast Association for Institutional Research, National Association of Schools of Art and Design, Association for Technology in Music Instruction, and at multiple state music education conferences.
Board Member for Composition: Sabrina Clarke, University of Delaware and Temple University
Sabrina Clarke is a theorist, composer, and pianist based in Philadelphia. She is currently Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Theory at the University of Delaware and Adjunct
Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Temple University, and has a bustling private studio of piano, composition, theory, and musicianship students. Clarke’s music has been performed internationally at venues including Felix Meritis Hall in Amsterdam, and the Schola Cantorum in Paris, France. Her work has been featured at the Nordic Historical Keyboard Festival in Kuopio, Finland, the SCI Region III Festival at Marshall University, and the Colonial Williamsburg Early Music Festival.
Board Member for Music in General Studies: Aida Huseynova, Indiana University
Aida Huseynova is Lecturer of Music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. A musicologist, ethnomusicologist, and pianist, she received her PhD in musicology from the St.
Petersburg Conservatory. As a faculty member of Indiana University’s Music in General Studies Department, she has developed and taught courses on Music of the Silk Road, East‐West Encounters in Music, and Music of Russia, and she also teaches music theory classes. A specialist in musical multiculturalism, Shostakovich, and the music of Azerbaijan, Dr. Huseynova has served as a research advisor to world‐renown artists and arts initiatives for more than a decade.
Terms of office for board members begin on January 1, 2018, and conclude on December 31, 2020.
Term of office for President-Elect begins January 1, 2018 and concludes on December 31, 2018, followed by a two-year term as President and a one-year term as Past-President, concluding on December 31, 2021.
