CMS members are invited to use this form to nominate themselves or others for consideration as program committee members for CMS national and international conferences. Names received are forwarded periodically to the CMS leadership as program committees are formed. Appointments are conference-specific; nominated persons will be considered for available positions on program committees and their respective subcommittees.
Members of CMS program committees are volunteers who contribute time and service toward (a) helping the organization fulfill its mission and (b) promoting the advancement of the music community. Program committees create conference programs that facilitate the exchange of ideas and interactions among professional colleagues. Typically, CMS members find participation on program committees to be a professionally rewarding experience.
All nominees must be current members of The College Music Society. Rather than representing specific music disciplines or specialties, program committee members are expected to participate in the development of the program at large in a collaborative forum that emphasizes clear communication and creative thinking. Program committee members will be asked to attend in-person and/or online meetings, to review work submitted by peers, make programming decisions, evaluate meetings' effectiveness, and recommend future enhancements. Additionally, as representatives of The College Music Society, members of program committees are asked to attend conferences they have organized, providing invaluable assistance as they greet attendees, preside over sessions and other gatherings, manage concerts, and perform other significant duties.
