Registration FAQs

Q: Is it possible to attend a single concert or presentation without registering?  
A: No. Individuals must be registered for the conference to attend any portion of the program.

Q: I am a composer whose work is being performed on the conference program. Am I required to register for the conference in order to attend?
A: Yes. Anyone who benefits professionally from taking part is required to register.

Q: Does my registration fee include attendance at pre-conference workshops?
A: No, it does not.

Q: Can I attend a pre-conference workshop without registering for the conference?
A: No. Attendees wanting to attend a pre-conference workshop must register for the conference and pay the additional pre-conference workshop fee.

Q: Is my friend, family member, or partner allowed to see my presentation?
A: The conference is not open to the public; however, CMS offers a special registration fee that allows friends, family members, and partners of presenters to attend the event of their sponsoring presenter. To qualify for this rate, guest registrants cannot derive professional benefit from attending the conference. Guest registrations may be added at the time of registration by a presenting member.

Q: I have already registered for the conference and did not register a guest. Is it still possible to add a guest to my registration? 
A: Yes. Guests may be added to existing registrations over the phone with payment by credit card. Please call the CMS Executive Office at (406) 721-9616.

Q: Are guest registrants allowed to attend the Thursday “Evening at the Derby” event?
A: Yes. Pending availability, tickets may be purchased either by the CMS member or the guest via the registration form.

Q: I forgot to purchase a ticket for the Thursday “Evening at the Derby” event, and I have already registered. What do I do?
A: Please phone the CMS Executive Office at (406) 721-9616. Pending availability, tickets for this event may be purchased over the phone with payment by credit card.

Q: Does my registration fee include lodging?
A: No, it does not.

Q: Does CMS provide any scholarships or travel grants?
A: No. Unfortunately, CMS is not able to provide any funding to conference attendees.

Q: If I have to withdraw from the program, will I receive a refund?
A: Depending on the date you cancel, a portion of your registration fee may be refundable. Please see the cancelation policy for further details. 

Q: Will my badge/tickets/program book be mailed to me prior to the conference?
A: No, you may pick up your registration materials at the conference registration desk. On-site registration hours will be posted in the conference schedule.

Q: What should I do when I arrive at the conference?
A: Please proceed to the conference registration desk during operating hours to pick up your name badge and other registration materials.
