Performing artists face a high incidence of musculoskeletal injuries, especially as students. In this session we’ll review the common risk factors and signs of injury, and we’ll see how posture and the kinetic chain can help improve music performance.


Isabel Artigues is a pioneering Physiotherapist, Polestar Pilates instructor and MSc in Performing Arts Medicine combining diverse clinical experience and published research with regular lecturing at higher education institutions in the UK (University College London, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance) and Spain (Institute of the Arts Barcelona). She leads the Young Professionals Resource Database Committee at PAMA (Performing Arts Medicine Association) and the Research Committee at AMPAE (Spanish Multidisciplinary Association for the Performing Arts). She is now based in Philadelphia, USA.
