Who May Attend?

CMS welcomes to its international conferences all music professionals, including those (a) in academia (full-time and adjunct faculty, community college faculty, students, and retired faculty), (b) in the music industry, and (c) active as independent musicians and scholars. Those holding current membership in CMS are entitled to receive a discount on registration fees. Others not holding membership will be charged the non-member conference rate. Non-music professionals are also welcomed to register as companions of such persons.

CMS Registration Policy:

All persons who derive professional benefit from presenting work during the conference (1) must hold current membership in the organization and (2) are required to register for the full conference. This includes anyone whose name appears in the program: all collaborative pianists, performers, composers, panelists, and presenters.

CMS works hard to ensure that attendees receive a quality conference experience. To that end, conference organizers attempt to negotiate the best prices possible for groups and endeavor to keep costs as low as possible. The following fees will apply for the 2023 International Conference:

      $1,389  CMS Member

      $1,239  CMS Retired Member

      $   999  CMS Student Member

      $1,239  Traveling Companion (adult)**

      $   400  Traveling Companion (6-18 years old)+

      $1,499  Non-CMS Member

** The companion rate is for persons who will accompany a regular registrant but who cannot benefit professionally from attending the conference.

+ Parents or legal guardians must submit the registration form on behalf of their child(ren). No fee or registration is required for infants and children younger than 6 years old; however, attendees bringing children of this age must communicate their intentions to the CMS conference planner well in advance of the conference. Additionally, it is imperative that parents and legal guardians carefully review and abide by rules pertaining to traveling with minors as outlined in the registration Terms & Conditions.

CMS International Conferences differ from other CMS programs in that academic presentations and performances are supplemented by a variety of group activities, meals, and networking opportunities designed to provide cultural enrichment and encourage exploration of the conference destination. Accordingly, the registration fee considers the expense of these enhancements, and all attendees must pay the full conference fee. Fees will not be prorated based on individual travel plans, preferences, or absence from certain functions.
