“Lift Your Voice” - We who dedicate ourselves to voice education, vocal habilitation and vocal rehabilitation are reminded that all these facets of vocal training and health should be accessible to everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender identity. This webinar will focus on gender-affirming voice care from the perspective of a speech pathologist/singing voice specialist, including the role of the speech pathologist, current terminology and language, and basic points of awareness to consider when working with individuals who are at various stages of exploring their gender identity. Dr. Thompson is one of three voice healthcare providers at Mayo Clinic Florida who treat patients referred from the Transgender Intersex Specialty Care Center (TISCC).

Chandler Thompson is a speech-language pathologist specializing in voice disorders at Mayo Clinic Florida, where she evaluates and treats patients with voice and upper airway disorders. Dr. Thompson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance (Michigan State University), as well as a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology (New York Medical College). Chandler has presented frequently at state and national conferences, including National Association of Teacher of Singing, Voice Foundation Symposium, and the Performing Arts Medicine Association. She received post-graduate training in contemporary commercial singing methods; myofascial release techniques for voice; Buteyko Breathing; and, Clinical Hypnosis.
