Our Mission

The College Music Society promotes music teaching and learning, musical creativity and expression, research and dialogue, and diversity and interdisciplinary interaction. A consortium of college, conservatory, university, and independent musicians and scholars interested in all disciplines of music, the Society provides leadership and serves as an agent of change by addressing concerns facing music in higher education.

Purpose:
 Dedicated to inspiring young artists for America's future, NFAA's mission is to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development. NFAA's core program, youngARTS, contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by investing in the artistic development of thousands of gifted artists in cinematic arts, dance, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing. youngARTS is open to high school seniors and other 17 and 18-year-old artists in the performing, literary and visual arts. Finalists share in an awards package valued up to $900,000, including more than $500,000 in cash awards, $3 million in scholarship opportunities and the chance to be named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts.
