Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Chapter of The College Music Society. Established in 1988, our chapter includes nearly 300 CMS members in Alaska, Northern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, western Montana, and western Idaho.
Our annual Regional Conference includes paper presentations, lecture-recitals, CMS composers' concerts, student papers and compositions, a keynote address, and an annual business meeting and luncheon. Attending a conference in the region is both accessible and affordable and allows an opportunity to visit and learn with colleagues from our region. Our conference also draws participation from colleagues in other chapters.
You will be notified when we issue a Call for Participation. If you choose to submit a proposal, all topics related to college music teaching and the national topic are welcome. Complete conference details are posted on the website as soon as they are available. We strongly encourage chapter members to attend the yearly conference even if they do not submit a proposal.
Whether you are a college or university professor, a graduate student, or an independent scholar or performer, you will find a warm welcome in our chapter and abundant opportunities to develop your career, be inspired by colleagues, create effective networks in your field, and to be of service to the academic and music communities. It is my hope that as a CMS member you will take the opportunity to get involved through our chapter conference and to participate in boards and service positions.
