The College Music Society’s Monographs and Bibliographies in American Music series is an ongoing series of bibliographic sourceworks designed to facilitate the study and understanding of American music and of music in the Americas. The series includes comprehensive and rigorous studies of significant and enduring interest to the college music community. The purpose of the series is to contribute to a comprehensive bibliography for the study of American music. The subjects included in the series concern significant American composers, repertories, and comparable topics.
Proposals, in a single MS Word .doc or .docx file, should include:
- Introduction (including a clear description of the purpose and method of data collection)
- Table of contents
- Chapter outlines
- Letter of intent that highlights the author’s knowledge and suitability for writing the monograph
The Editorial Board of the Monographs and Bibliographies in American Music series will review the proposal. If the proposal is approved, the author will be asked to complete and submit the book manuscript. Once the book manuscript is received, the Editorial Board (along with optional external reviewers when necessary) will review it for acceptance and recommendation for publication.
