I am very pleased to welcome you to the Northeast Chapter of The College Music Society. I am sure you will find that this chapter is vibrant, engaging, and stimulating.
There are over a thousand members from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the Maritime Provinces. Our members find a home in CMS because of its diversity; our membership’s sub-disciplines range from music performance to music theory to ethnomusicology, and everything in between.
The Northeast Chapter of CMS hosts a conference every year in the Spring. These conferences feature papers, lecture-recitals, performances, a concert devoted to new music by CMS composers, panels, and stimulating talks by our keynote and pedagogical speakers. I hope that you will want to continue to be — or begin to become — involved in our Chapter, and will submit a proposal for the upcoming conference, which will be held on March 24-25, 2018, at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. Please refer to the Call for Program Participation and Call for Scores for more information. If you are working on various proposals or simply have ideas percolating, please feel free to attend the conference for inspiration!
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you would like more information about our organization.
