Welcome to the South Central Chapter

momand elizabethWelcome to the homepage of South Central Chapter! With nearly 500 members from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, we are a welcoming, diverse group of performers, researchers, and scholars who represent the full spectrum of music as a profession.

Our annual regional conference, held in March, provides an array of opportunities for members to perform and present research and new works. The call for participation will be issued at the beginning of the academic year for paper presentations, panels, lecture-recitals, CMS composers' concerts, performer recitals, student papers and compositions, workshops, poster sessions, and demonstrations. The conference also includes an address from an inspirational keynote speaker, business meetings, and, of course, plenty of time to network with music colleagues from the chapter and around the nation. Our chapter is committed to supporting the work of our student members by presenting awards to the best student presentations at the conference. I encourage members from all chapters to submit proposals, particularly those that address the CMS Common Topic and consider varying perspectives. Everyone, regardless of proposal, is welcome to attend the conference.

If you are interested in learning more about our chapter or taking a more active role in the leadership of the chapter, please contact me. On behalf of the officers of the South Central Chapter, I welcome your interest in our group and hope to hear from you through email or social media and see you at our conference in March.
