SEARCH FILTER DISPLAY

Each time you enter a value in a search field, a corresponding button with the criterion will pop up above the 'Search' button.  These buttons allow you to see all the criteria you've entered for a search. You may clear individual criterion by closing the appropriate button, or you may clear all search fields at once by choosing 'Clear All'. 
 

SEARCH FIELDS

Select from available fields below to read helpful tips and detailed information.

  • Field allows multiple selections
  • Choose any combination of individual administrative specialties, or if you want to search all administrators, select ‘Administration: Any Area’
  • iOS smartphone/tablet users: After selecting multiple choices, tap ‘Done’ on the keyboard
  • Android smartphone/tablet users: After selecting multiple choices, tap ‘OK’ on the overlay
  • Field will search exact string entered
  • Field will supply autofill dropdown selections matching the exact string typed in the field or type text and the exact string will be used to search anywhere in the field
    • Example: Typing ‘piano performance’ will dropdown DMA in Collaborative Piano Performance, DMA in Piano Performance, etc. Selecting a drop-down will find exact matches.
    • Example: Typing ‘piano’ without selecting a drop-down will provide results for all degrees where the name contains ‘piano’.
  • For ease of searching, the following abbreviations are used in degree descriptions
    • CERT - Certificate
    • DA - Doctor of Arts
    • DIPL - Diploma
    • DM - Doctor of Music
    • DMA - Doctor of Musical Arts
    • EdD - Doctorate of Education
    • M - Master
    • MA - Master of Arts
    • MDiv - Master of Divinity
    • MEd - Master of Education
    • MFA - Master of Fine Arts
    • MM - Master of Music
    • MME - Master of Music Education
    • MMT - Master of Music Therapy
    • MS - Master of Science
    • PhD - Doctor of Philosophy
    • PROG - Progam
    • SPEC - Specialist

    • Example: Typing ‘Montana’ will dropdown both Montana State University and University of Montana. Selecting a drop-down will find exact matches.
    • Example: Typing ‘Montana’ without selecting a drop-down will provide results for all institutions where the name contains ‘Montana’

  • There are over 160 specializations! It is best to begin by typing a keyword to find matches
    • Example: typing ‘piano’ will display the following drop-downs. Select a drop-down to add the category to your list of desired specializations
      • Keyboard: Piano;
      • Keyboard: Piano Pedagogy;
      • Keyboard: Group Piano, etc.
  • There are MAJOR CATEGORIES and Sub-Categories. To search all specializations within major categories, choose the ‘any area’ option.
    • Example: Select ‘KEYBOARD: ANY AREA’ to search all sub-categories of Keyboard.
  • Choose any combination of individual teaching specialties
  • iOS smartphone/tablet users: After selecting multiple choices, tap ‘Done’ on the keyboard
  • Android smartphone/tablet users: After selecting multiple choices, tap ‘OK’ on the overlay
  • Fields work in conjunction with one another. You must choose a radius after entering a zip code.
  • The radius works only with the zip code field and not other geographic or location fields.
