Join the CMS Council on Music Theory for a free, fully online Music Theory Teaching Bootcamp! This 90-minute workshop is designed for instructors teaching music theory as a secondary area who are teaching a fundamentals course for the first time—especially those assigned to the course on short notice. You'll gain practical strategies, resources, and support to help you lead your class with confidence from day one. The session will cover the essentials of teaching a fundamentals course, including teaching philosophy, classroom management, course administration, content, scheduling, lesson design, grading, and strategies for teaching select topics. Emphasis will be placed on promoting music literacy as the central goal, grounded in a comprehensive approach that incorporates music literature. Participants will receive access to a library of ready-made teaching materials and curated online resources to support course delivery. Faculty and graduate students alike are most welcome to attend.
