Welcome to the Great Lakes Chapter

Andrea Ridilla.

Welcome to the Great Lakes Chapter of CMS. Founded in 1983, our chapter is made up of nearly 700 members from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario and Québec.

The Great Lakes Chapter hosts a conference each spring, featuring paper presentations, panels, lecture-recitals, performances, workshops, demonstrations, poster sessions, and CMS members composers’ concerts.

A highlight of our conferences is a keynote address from a preeminent colleague. You will find an abundance of opportunities to network. We encourage you to to submit proposals as well as to attend our annual conferences. CMS members from all chapters are invited to submit proposals, not only Great Lakes chapter members.

Our chapter is a strong advocate for honoring student work, and offers support by presenting annual monetary awards, recognizing Student Presentations and Compositions.

We could always use more active participation from our members. If you are interested in either leadership opportunities or involvement at conferences, let us know.

We welcome input, suggestions, and active collaboration from everyone. The Great Lakes Chapter is blessed with some of the best music schools and programs in the nation. Come and be a part of the energy. Please help us spread the word about CMS membership—and our wonderful programs and community—to your new faculty colleagues. If you are interested in learning more about the Great Lakes Chapter, do not hesitate to contact me.
